INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup Blue Corn Meal
  • 1/2 cup 100% Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 Tsp Juniper Ash
  • 1 Tbsp Raw Blue Agave or Brown Sugar or ½ Tsp Sweet-n-low

**Recipe with no flour:

  • 1 cup Blue Corn Meal
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 Tsp Juniper Ash
  • 1 Tbsp Raw Blue Agave/Brown Sugar

 

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

  • Whisk/Fork/Stirring Stick
  • Spatula
  • Measuring Cup
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Pot + Skillet
  • 2 Bowls
  • Scissors

 

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Add 1 cup water to pot. Set to medium-low heat. In mixing bowl, add blue corn meal+juniper ash 1.
  2. (WITH FLOUR)  Add 1 cup water to pot. Set to medium-low heat. In bowl mix blue corn meal, juniper ash, 1/4 flour and slowly add to pot while stirring.
  3. Keep stirring until thick. Add optional sweetener. Stir evenly. Turn off stove.
  4. Turn on skillet + set to medium-low to medium heat.
  5. Add batter to mixing bowl (add up to ¼ cup flour or blue corn if needed).
  6. Form medium size cakes + place in skillet. Using spatula, flip cakes until desired firmness/toasted color.
