Online STEM Class

Looking for something fun for your 6th, 7th, or 8th grader this summer? NATIVE HEALTH is offering a FREE online STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program. This FREE and FUN twice weekly online program will be shown on the NATIVE HEALTH Facebook page: www.facebook.com/nativehealthphoenix. There will be weekly experiments, activities, and other fun things for your Native American youth.

NATIVE HEALTH STEM is funded by the Arizona Community Foundation.

Week 1 Activities

On Week 1 – Day 1 you’ll learn about the pH scale, which measures how acidic or basic a substance is, and how you can use it at home. On Day 2 you’ll see how far a sneeze can go and how important it is to wear a mask!

Week 2 Activities

On Day 3 you’ll learn about solar energy—the energy that comes from the sun. The experiment will be studying how certain colors and/or materials attract sun light, and we are going see how ice melts on different colors and/or materials. On Day 4 the topic will be about electricity, and you will learn how to build a Direct Current (DC) closed and open electrical circuit.

For Day 5 and 6 you’ll learn about Navajo Male and Female Hogans and you’ll learn how to build your own male and female hogan.

For Day 7 you’ll learn about Probability, using jelly beans and gummy Bears. On Day 8 you’ll learn about Projectile Motion.
