NATIVE HEALTH’s Tribal Home Visiting Program is hosting Positive Indian Parenting (PIP)! These interactive sessions will be held VIRTUALLY on Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31, from 9 am to 1 pm Phoenix time (PT). Each session is designed to reconnect families with traditional teachings so that parents can apply cultural teachings to modern-day parenting challenges. Participants can enroll voluntarily or if needing to meet a court order requirement for a Parenting Class.

Topics Covered: Traditional Parenting, Lessons of the Storyteller, Lessons of the Cradleboard, Harmony in Child Rearing, Traditional Behavior Management, Lessons of Mother Nature, Praise in Traditional Parenting, and Choices in Parenting

Participant must attend both days of class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. PT to receive a Certificate of Completion. Participants must register individually. Packets must be picked up prior to class start date, or other arrangements can be made.

Positive Indian Parenting is designed to meet the needs of parents, relatives, caregivers, foster parents, and others who strive to be more positive in their approach to parenting. The Curriculum was created by the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) and explores the values, and strengths of historical practices of parenting skills. “Honoring Our Children By Honoring Our Traditions” – NICWA
