Nadine “Dena” Cruz’s Bio:
Skeg Taş, ‘Añi ‘ab cegig Nadine “Dena” Cruz; ‘añ ‘amjed Keij Mek, Tohono O’odham Nation. Good Day, I am Nadine “Dena” Cruz; I am from the Tohono O’odham Nation, from the village of Santa Rosa. I consider myself a contemporary Tohono O’odham / Shoshone (Temoke) artist. I tend to take on many mediums however, I am most
known for my beadwork, crocheting, flower making motifs/centerpieces, and in the past several years, Tohono O’odham Basketry and Pottery. My hajun (relatives) and environment, are my inspiration and aspiration to continue to create. I look forward to demonstrating and sharing our techniques with our friends, relatives and neighbors up north. Nt o’ep om-ñei (See you later)!

Renee Cruz‘s Bio:
My beadwork and basketry is designed with incorporating Tohono Oodham baskets and with Shoshone symbols. I’ve learned to bead by observing my mother and siblings. I relearned basketry at the Tohono O’odham Community College, Instructor Elizabeth Ortega and I have older family members who did basketry.  I incorporate the different designs of my two tribes into my creation pieces. It’s important to me to pass on the tradition of beading to the future generation, so that my tribe’s legacy will live on.
