Learn how to recognize, understand, and respond when a young person may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. This training is for adults 18+. All professions and backgrounds are welcome. No prior mental health experience is needed.
What You’ll Learn in Youth Mental Health First Aid
This interactive training helps you recognize and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges in youth ages 12–18.
During the training, you’ll learn how to:
• Notice early warning signs when a young person may be struggling.
• Understand how life stress, trauma, and other factors can affect youth mental health.
• Reach out with empathy and start supportive conversations.
• Respond with confidence in both everyday and crisis situations using a simple 5-step action plan.
• Connect youth to professional help and community resources.
• Encourage ongoing wellness, resilience, and hope.
What to Expect:
After registering through NATIVE HEALTH, you will:
1. Access your learner account in MHFA Connect.
2. Complete the required 2-hour self-paced online pre-work prior to attending the live session.
3. Attend the live virtual instructor-led session with two certified MHFA instructors.
4. Complete the required post-course evaluation and exam.
5. Receive your official Youth Mental Health First Aid Certificate of Completion after completing all course requirements.
Camera Requirement: Because this is interactive training, participants are required to remain on camera throughout the live virtual session to support active participation and meet course requirements.
